IN WISCONSIN

Our Gun’s

By Rick Spoerl

"Excuse me officer, me and my gang banger buddies here would like to surrender our handguns to you because of the recently passed hand gun ban". I don’t think so. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to know that if a federal law outlawing hand guns is passed, murderers, rapists, robbers and any other hardened criminal would be the last to turn in their guns. In Britain and Australia every legitimate member of a licensed gun club had to hand in their guns. Gun crimes in those countries rose 103% from 1997-2002. Why? Criminals now know when entering a house, mugging someone, raping someone or robbing a business that because of the legislatures false hopes of controlling crime that there is a slim chance their victim will be able to protect themselves. This leaves us extremely venerable to attack. Not vulnerable because we don’t have guns, but more vulnerable because the criminal knows we aren’t armed.

Make no mistake about it, legislatures are trying to win votes, not stop crime. The Governor of Wisconsin, Mr. Veto himself Gov. Jim Doyle doesn’t care what the people want. He thinks he knows better than they do and uses the system to go against what the majority of the citizens of Wisconsin want. Some day he’ll be gone and other than paying Mr. Doyle’s lifelong retirement Wisconsinites will have nothing more to do with him. Maybe than Wisconsin will obtain the concealed carry law it wants.

Why should politicians risk re-election fighting vicious crime with longer and tougher sentencing by crimes committed with guns other than just targeting decent law abiding citizens to earn themselves another term? What you don’t see are the statistics after such gun laws are put into place. If a bank robber points a gun in the face of a clerk and gets caught, were lucky to see him behind bars for four years. If it were twenty years to life, maybe a few of them think twice about their career choice. Not more gun laws, tougher penalties for committing crime with guns are the answer to lower gun crime. A burglar might think it over if he thought there was a gun in the house he was about to rob. If a concealed carry law was passed a thug may think twice about who he rapes next.

Australia is the best case example of the failure of the political agenda to out law guns. After the recent gun ban in the state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are up 300 percent. Prior to the gun law figures over the past 25 years show Australia’s gun crimes went down. Things have took a turn for the worst since criminals are guaranteed that the law abiding citizen is un-armed. There have also been dramatic increases in assaults against the elderly. After 12 months of taking the guns away from the people gun crimes have skyrocketed. Australia taxpayers certainly didn’t get their 500 million dollars worth that they spent on their law surrendering 640,381 guns.

Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the NRA says that the week of July 4th 2006 a conference by gun prohibitionists and animal rights groups will press for a "worldwide" disarmament of all civilian guns. LaPierre warns that there are many ways in which U.N. gun laws could be enforced in the U.S.A.. He says "the president could call the document an "agreement" rather than a "treaty", and instead of needing the two thirds of the senate, it would simply need a majority in the house and senate for approval". That’s how Bill Clinton got the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to pass.

A new book written by LaPierre tells of the global war on guns along with shocking tales of the slaughter of millions of Africans by government supported Islamic Arab Radicals. Go to www.nraila.org for details.
