OLDSQUAW

ABOUT THEM

The Oldsquaw is seldom seen by Hunters other than the Hunters that brave the Lake Michigan Waters, and fisherman on the Lake. They also range along both coasts. They are a slim brightly plumaged sea Duck. Smaller than Scoters and Eiders their flight is swift and low. they constantly change formations. They are a very vocal Duck with the Drakes making a loud caloo, caloo.

DESCRIPTION

Brightly colored duck looking white and black in flight with a dark patch around the eye but in the summer  has a darker appearance with the eye patch turning white.

The Hen looking similar to the Drake but darker in color with a nearly all white or off white face and neck.
