SAUGER

(Stizostedion canadense)

 

 

   Saugers closely resemble the Walleye but their black spotted dorsal fin is a dead giveaway that its a sauger. They usually are darker in color also. They are mostly found in large lakes and rivers like the Lake Winnebago-Fox River System, as well as the Mississippi River. They seldom get over 16 inches hear in Wisconsin. Fishing techniques are the same as Walleyes.
